Meet Our Staff
North Santiam Family Dentistry, Stayton OR
Danielle – Hygienist
Danielle is the incredible hygienist every dental practice wants … with the gentle hands and caring heart that every patient desires. She joined our practice family in 2014, shortly after one of our long-standing and valued hygienists retired. Danielle was born and raised in Southern Oregon. She and her twin sister both received their Bachelor’s Degrees in Hygiene from the Oregon Institute of Technology in 2012. In the short while that we’ve known her, we have been very impressed, and our patients have been too. They’ve been telling us so! Danielle has been exceeding our expectations every single day … and we hope she will call our practice home at least until Dr. Van Kirk retires (many years down the road). Danielle and her husband Derrick have property in nearby Jefferson, where they have two dogs, a cat, chickens and ducks. They also enjoy spending time with family, off-road exploring in the mountains, and riding on wave runners. One of the things Danielle enjoys most about her job is developing long-lasting relationships with her patients and helping them get the best possible preventive and restorative dental care.
Sandy – Treatment Coordinator
Sandy has been a valued member of this dental team for more years than she is willing to admit! Long before Dr. Van Kirk bought this practice, Sandy originally worked here as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant for Dr. Roger Van Santen, when his father still owned the practice. Over the years, Sandy has progressed through every possible auxiliary function in this practice. Today she helps Dr. Van Kirk’s patients understand their proposed treatment and costs, as well as their financial options. Sandy grew up in Stayton, and has so many relatives here that she may find it difficult deciding on which side of the aisle to sit at a local wedding! She and her husband Ronnie have proudly raised 2 sons, Jared and Jonathan. They all enjoy spending time together with family and friends, and going camping and fishing. Sandy enjoys her long-term relationships with our patients, and being able to help them with their dental needs.
Jill – Scheduling & Insurance Coordinator
Jill has been an integral member of this dental team since 1992, when she was hired as a Certified Dental Assistant for Dr. Roger Van Santen. She now serves Dr. Van Kirk’s patients in our front office. Chances are, she will be the first person to greet you with a smile when you come in, and she’ll be just as happy to help make your payment and re-scheduling process as smooth as possible when you leave. Jill enjoys interacting with the patients and co-workers she has gotten to know over the years. She and her husband Blain live in nearby Jefferson, and they have three children. They have also acquired two horses, two dogs, a cat, and two pigs! Jill’s family loves spending time together fishing, camping, boating, and going to the Dunes. The thing Jill loves best about dentistry is seeing our patients and their friendly smiles.
Michele – Dental Assistant
Michele is our newest staff member, and she has already proven to be a valuable member of our dental team. Michele grew up in nearby Mill City, and has lived in this area her whole life. She already knew many of our patients before she even got here! Michele graduated from Santiam High, and later studied at Chemeketa Community College. Michele has background experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (as well as a Medication Aid, cook, and an in-home care-giver), before changing careers into the field of dentistry and becoming an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (involves more training than a basic assistant). She has been serving others as a dental assistant since 2012, having worked in both general dentistry and periodontist offices. Michele clearly loves the career she has chosen, and you’ll be able to see that yourself when you meet her. Michele has 3 children (all teenagers) with her husband, and her family also has 1 dog and 3 cats. In her free time, Michele enjoys quilting, painting, cooking, and baking.
